Meet SkinPen: Your Guide to Microneedling

We here at Honey Skin and Body Bar have been SO excited to unveil our new magic tool… our SkinPen! As we’ve announced the arrival of the Skinpen and microneedling, we wanted to make sure we were able to answer all possible questions. What does microneedling do? How does it work? Is it right for me? To answer these questions, we sat down with one of our own beloved estheticians.

“Tell us about SkinPen and what it does.”

Skinpen is a microneedling treatment. This is going to cause micro-injuries to the skin that are going to help boost collagen, elastin, all of those wonderful things that give us our beautiful complexion.

“And then, what do you recommend as far as treatments?”

As far as treatments go, you would typically receive a SkinPen treatment in a series of three. Your first one spaced out to your second one would be about four to six weeks, so it’s going to be about 3-5 months of treatment.

“What skin types are good for SkinPen?”

So, the great thing about SkinPen is that everyone can benefit from it. So, all Fitzpatrick types, one through six are all okay for SkinPen.

“Tell us more about the downtime.”

So, as far as downtime goes – you’re going to have about twenty-four hours of redness, maybe a little bit of flaking the first couple of days… But you're fine to resume activities after 24 hours.”

“Perfect. And then how soon will I be able to see glowing skin?”

So, you’re going to see an amazing difference within that first twenty four hours but after about a week you’re really going to notice the complexion in your skin and just the beauty from SkinPen.

“How often should I get the series of three treatments?”

The series of three treatments can happen within a window of three to five months of each other. After this initial series of three, we would recommend getting a microneedling treatment about once a year.
